Tuakoi Ohia is of Ngāti Hine, Mataatua, Tainui, Te Arawa, Te Āti Awa and Ngāi Pākehā descent. Her debut in acting started in 2018 on ‘Ahikāroa’. Not long after, she toured theatre show BLACK TIES, created by indigenous theatre companies; Te Rēhia Theatre (Auckland) and Ilbijerri Theatre (Melbourne). She has had the privilege of being involved in a number of plays in development, including a variety of genres. All her experiences this far have given her the motivation and aspirations to continue to act in projects that include the positive representation of Māori, and to create content that encourages other Māori pursuing a path in the arts.
